Review: Usher - Here I Stand

'Here I Stand' is Usher's 5th studio album, it features production from , Polow Da Don, Tricky Stewart, will.i.am, Jermaine Dupri and Danja. You would expect with all the producers Usher has worked with he'd get an album that's quite fresh sounding, you wouldn't expect every track to be the same. Unfortunately this is not the case. Every track seems to blend into one, I really couldn't listen to the album that often all the way through.

Thankfully though there are some hidden gems amongst the bland R&B mid-tempo numbers. 'Love In This Club' for instance is the best track on this album, and my favourite Usher track ever. It really is a shame the album doesn't stick with that standard. Even the ballad 'Moving Mountains' is quite something, it sounds like Usher really feels what he's singing, lyrically however the song is a bit strange and I find it a bit cliche.

Apart from those two songs the album is pretty dire. There is not much to it at all. All you have is bland R&B track after bland R&B track. There are absolutely no club baggers, or anything even slightly more upbeat than 'Love In This Club'. To give you an idea of how good this album is, my favourite track is 'Love In This Club Part 2', yes it's a remix. The only reason I like that so much is probably because Beyonce is in it and after 15 tracks of Usher singing the same old stuff hearing Beyonce saves it.

I give this album 2/5, if you are a big fan of R&B songs you'll probably like this. If the only song of Usher's you like is 'Yeah' I very much doubt you'll like this. 'Here I Stand' is out now!

What do you think of 'Here I Stand'?
