Britney Interested In TV

Source: TMZ

TMZ has learned Britney Spears took a meeting yesterday with a big-time producer and may be headed to the small screen in a starring role.

Sources say Britney and her team met with Roy Bank, President of Merv Griffin Entertainment, and discussed several TV projects in which Brit would star and possibly produce. We're told one of the projects is a music show.

Makes sense to pair Brit up with Bank -- they're both repped by the William Morris Agency, which packages tons of TV shows. It was, we're told, a "serious" meeting. The ball is now in her court, but she's definitely interested in the whole TV thing.

Interesting news, it really does seem like Britney is getting better now, but I hope she doesn't give up singing for TV!

Review: Ashlee Simpson (-Wentz) - Bittersweet World

'Bittersweet World' is Ashlee's 3rd studio album and in a similar way to Jesse McCartney's latest it marks a change in genre for Ashlee. In fact she's worked with some of the top producers of the moment, including Timbaland and Chad Hugo. You would think that this album then is the recipe for success?

Well I think so. This album is amazing. Unlike Madonna's latest Ashlee doesn't seem to have just applied her voice to a Nelly Furtado album, she's stuck with what she knows. At the core of this album is a very pop/rock orientated sound, similar to her previous albums. However what makes this album stand out compare to those two is the production. You can't really tell which songs have been produced by Timbaland, like I said Ashlee hasn't gone for a Loose-type album. It seems like she's just applied Timbaland to her normal style, the songs all sound great.

I don't think there is one weak track on this album. I mean in some places Ashlee's vocals could be better but there is something about Ashlee's voice I like, it's unique. It makes her stand out, she isn't just another great singer, there is something quirky and enticing about it.

Some of the tracks are a bit strange, 'Hot Stuff' is probably the strangest but it's fun at the same time, it's not just weird, it's interesting. It really is a shame that the general public don't seem to have taken to Ashlee's new sound, she's improved a lot since 'I Am Me'. I honestly can't choose favourite tracks because they are all so good, in different ways. Some are rockier while others bring a more contemporary edge.

I give this album 5/5. You must go out and buy it now! It was released in the UK this Monday and has been out in the US for ages now. Seriously go and buy it!!

Heidi Montag: Ready To Marry

Source: Just Jared

Even though The Hills is on summer hiatus, the show’s feminist hero Heidi Montag is still newsworthy enough to make it on the latest cover of Us Weekly. Ms. Montag called off her wedding last year but–SURPRISE!–she’s changed her mind. “I’m ready to marry Spencer,” the 21-year-old fashion designer says. “He’s my soulmate.”

“Heidi read me biblical passages like ‘Honor thy wife,’” says future on-again fiance Spencer Pratt.

The new season of The Hills premieres in August with 19 new episodes.

I really like Heidi but sometimes she is so foolish, she really should ditch Spencer, he isn't any good for her, to be honest I hope they don't get married. (This is if The Hills is real!).

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz: I'm Pregnant

Source: Just Jared

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz just confirmed her pregnancy on husband Pete Wentz’s blog at FriendsorEnemies.com. Here’s the official confirmation from the newlyweds:

“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.” - Pete and Ashlee Wentz

I guess no one is really surprised, but it was stupid that they covered it up for so long.

Jonas Brothers - SOS [Live On Paul O'Grady]

The Jonas Brothers performed their new UK single 'SOS' on British TV Show 'Paul O'Grady' today. I really enjoyed the performance and the interview was good too, they had to eat British food like Haggis, which I would never even go near!

Review: Jesse McCartney - Departure

'Departure' is Jesse McCartney's 3rd studio album and it is a massive change of genre's for Jesse. Gone are the childish pop/rock tracks that have filled his last 2 albums and in their place we have a Pop/R&B mix. This is a very very good change for Jesse! I've never listened to a Jesse album before this but I've always thought the singles were ok.

'Leavin'' (the first single from this album) really got me excited about 'Departure'. I thought it was the best song I'd heard from Jesse and to be honest I still today think it is one of the best singles of 2008 so far. It did take me a while for it to click properly with me, I liked it straight away but after a few listens I loved it. My main concern with this album however was whether the album would live up to this standard.

I really do think this album has lived up to my expectations. It's the perfect mix of pop/R&B with the odd pop/rock song. But even the pop/rock songs seem to have a new level of maturity, in fact 'Told You So' one of these songs is my favourite on the album. There is a definate progression from his old albums. This album reminds me of Shayne Wards latest album, 'Breathless' only this is better, it has much more of a fresher sound to it, and Jesse seems to fit in with the genre more.

Other highlights of the album include 'Rock You' which features one of the best lines in a song, almost as good as 'It's Britney bitch' and that is 'They call me Jesse baby', it doesn't have quite the same impact as Britneys but I still love it! 'Runnin' is another of my favourites, but really I like the whole album too much to choose between all the great songs.
The only let down on this album is 'Bleeding Love' (a bonus track). I can see why he gave the song to Leona, it doesn't make as much sense as Leona's version, whether it's because vocally it isn't spectacluar I don't know, but I highly doubt Jesse would manage to have a hit with it.

I give this album 4/5 because it's a very good solid album. The reason I didn't give it 5/5 is because even though I love it I don't really love it, it's worth a buy but it hasn't made me into a massive Jesse fan, I just find it isn't perfect.

I recommend you buy 'Departure' now in the US and from June 16th in the UK!

Pussycat Dolls Perform When I Grow Up (Without Nicole)

Yes, you haven't misread this post, PCD performed WIGU live at Pure Vegas and as you can see in the video, Nicole isn't there. The song actually sounds really good without her. I think there may be an album version of the song which isn't just Nicole seeing, I mean it seems strange they'd know all the words, when they aren't supposed to sing them:

New Kids On The Block Reunion Not Going That Well

Source: Perez Hilton

The New Kids on the Block's "comeback" single, Summertime, has stalled BIG TIME.
The song has failed to catch on at radio and….

According to the new Soundscan singles chart, Summertime has dropped out of the top 50 selling songs

Ouch!

To date, NKOTB's Summertime has sold a pathetic sad 62,000 downloads.

Hey, at least their reunion tour is selling well.*

*Allegedly.

It's a shame because I really like 'Summertime', but before the reunion I hadn't heard of NKOTB. I hope it starts to pick up, or they have better luck with another single (if they release one).

Alanis Morissette - Underneath [Live On GMTV]

Alanis performed Underneath on GMTV this morning. I really enjoyed the performance, it's a very acousticy version of the song and Alanis seemed relaxed and she sang live, which not many people do on GMTV!

Nadia Oh - Got Your Number [Music Video]

This is the music video for Nadia Oh's latest single 'Got Your Number' from her debut album 'Hot Like Wow'. The song was featured on Gossip Girl a long time ago. The video is fairly new, it's nothing special but it is nice and colourful.

Chanelle Hayes

I just thought I'd mention Chanelle here because I really like her single. For those of you who don't know Chanelle was on last years season of UK Big Brother. If I remember rightly, she left the house because she was having relationship problems with another housemate, Ziggy. Since then she has tried to keep her fame going by being a judge on a VH1 Talent show and doing various magazine photoshoots etc.

Well it wasn't long until Chanelle got another TV Show which was to try and make her a popstar. She worked with some people and came up with 'I Want It' which is a very very good song, it's quite sexual but as you can imagine I don't think she minds. The song charted at #63 and I was watching the TV Show and it sounds like the record label are pleased with that, they weren't expecting much. It sounded like they're going to give her an album deal so we'll have to wait and see. Anyway here's the 'I Want It' music video:

The video was even featured on Perez Hilton, which must have given the song a bit of a boost!

Woolworths To Stop Selling CD Singles

British high street shop Woolworths have annouced plans to stop selling CD Singles, from August:

Woolworths to ditch CD singles

Sales of CD singles have been hit by the popularity of downloads High street chain Woolworths has said it will stop selling CD singles in its stores. The group said that the format was in "terminal decline" and will be removed from the shelves from August.

Sales of CD singles have fallen sharply as the popularity of downloading music from the internet has increased. However, it will continue to stock one-off releases, such as the X Factor winner, which the retailer says still sells hundreds of thousands of copies. Sales plunge Figures show that this year sales are a third of what they were in 2007 and the market is less than a sixth of what it was eight years ago. 78 million CD, tape and vinyl singles were bought in 1999 - the height of the physical single's popularity - but this fell to only eight million CD singles in 2007.

Jim Batchelor, Woolworths commercial director, said: "Digital downloading is now the true customer choice for listening and purchasing single music tracks. "CDs are alive and well for album sales, but unfortunately the physical singles market is in terminal decline." Woolworths is the UK's biggest singles' retailer and has already reduced availability in half its 820 stores. The company has now shifted its focus to downloads and this week launched a revamped site covering music, games, video and mobile content.

I think this means that from August the only shops left selling singles will be music stores, I doubt it will be that long before singles are no more, I only brought one through the whole of last year so I can't say I'm that disappointed, but at the same time I hope this doesn't lead to everything going download. I still like buying physical albums.

What are your thoughts on CD Singles? Do you still buy them?

Kate Nash Wants New Sound For Her 2nd Album

Kate Nash apparently wants a punk sound to her next album. I'm not really sure Kate and punk will work that well, but you never know. I loved the singles from her debut and the rest of the album was ok, so in a way I'm glad she's going to try a new sound. Foundations was one of my favourite songs of last year!

Jessica Simpson - New Music News

According to Jessica's official site there will be a new album released this September! Not only that but on her site you can Sign Up to hear Jess' new single 'Come On Over'. I love the new song it has a very country feel to it and her voice is amazing. I didn't realise she could sing that well. She'll probably lose some fans by going into this country genre, it's totally different to anything I've heard from Jess. But hopefully she'll gain a few aswell!

Madonna To Become An Honorary Citizen Of Malawi

Source: Hello

She has homes in the US and Britain and now it seems the Queen of Pop has a new land. Malawi is said to be making Madonna an honourary citizen in recognition of her work there. As well as adopting her son David from the African country, the Four Minutes singer funds several orphanages in the land, feeding and educating thousands of youngsters. Caring Madonna is also setting up a girls' school near the capital to help the underprivileged. "We are proud as a country to be associated with such a megastar," Billy Kaunda, Malawi's deputy tourism and culture minister, was reported as saying. "She will have freedom of all cities here. She won't be bothered with issues like visas and other limitations." Earlier this week, Madonna's documentary on Malawi, I Am Because We Are, premiered in Cannes to great acclaim.

I'm not really sure what to think of this, it all seems a bit strange, but I guess the whole adoption has.

Review: Usher - Here I Stand

'Here I Stand' is Usher's 5th studio album, it features production from , Polow Da Don, Tricky Stewart, will.i.am, Jermaine Dupri and Danja. You would expect with all the producers Usher has worked with he'd get an album that's quite fresh sounding, you wouldn't expect every track to be the same. Unfortunately this is not the case. Every track seems to blend into one, I really couldn't listen to the album that often all the way through.

Thankfully though there are some hidden gems amongst the bland R&B mid-tempo numbers. 'Love In This Club' for instance is the best track on this album, and my favourite Usher track ever. It really is a shame the album doesn't stick with that standard. Even the ballad 'Moving Mountains' is quite something, it sounds like Usher really feels what he's singing, lyrically however the song is a bit strange and I find it a bit cliche.

Apart from those two songs the album is pretty dire. There is not much to it at all. All you have is bland R&B track after bland R&B track. There are absolutely no club baggers, or anything even slightly more upbeat than 'Love In This Club'. To give you an idea of how good this album is, my favourite track is 'Love In This Club Part 2', yes it's a remix. The only reason I like that so much is probably because Beyonce is in it and after 15 tracks of Usher singing the same old stuff hearing Beyonce saves it.

I give this album 2/5, if you are a big fan of R&B songs you'll probably like this. If the only song of Usher's you like is 'Yeah' I very much doubt you'll like this. 'Here I Stand' is out now!

Sam Sparro Attacks Madonna

"London (ANI): Not getting on the top might be hard for many, but singerSam Sappro seems to have taken it harder than most. The artist's Black &Gold was kept from the top spot by Madonna's 4 Minutes. And now he's making itpersonal by triggering a full on attack on her.

"Madonna is wretched at the moment - absolutely vulgar," The Sun quoted him, as saying in Attitude magazine. "Put it away! You're not young and sexyanymore. She went thoughtful and mature for a while, and now she's chucked itaway in some desperate attempt at being hot again. It's just a bit vile," Andthat's not all. He added: "I definitely think she's had some work done - like arecent facelift."

Sounds like someone is a little jealous, I think Sam's ok but it's hardly the best way to start his career, arguing with Madonna...

Review: Sandi Thom - The Pink & The Lily

'The Pink & The Lily' is Sandi's 2nd studio album, her first charted at #1 in the UK, she became famous after playing to thousands in her basement, through MySpace. She was/is the original MySpace artist to make it big. I remember buying her debut 'Smile It Confuses People...' and frankly I was disappointed, I even hated the first track and her hit single 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker'. But the reason I brought that album was due to 'What If I'm Right', I still love that song today! But I was still disappointed in the album as a whole.

However a few weeks ago Sandi released the music video for the lead single from this new album, 'The Devil's Beat'. As soon as I heard it I liked it, it's just one of those songs, I got it straight away. And it's the same with the album, it is very good. Sure not all the songs are amazing, but they're all good. I would say the genre is pop/rock with folk influences. It's probably the folk that puts people off listening to Sandi but she isn't really folk. It's more like modern folk music, that people who love folk probably wouldn't like.

My favourite track is still 'The Devil's Beat' so if you don't like that, chances are you won't like this album, but that said there are certainly other stand-out moments. 'Beatbox' for instance is a nice little ballad-esque song with a very nice use of folk instruments. 'I'm A Human Being' is probably my 2nd favourite track though, Sandi basically sings about how many people there are in the world, but how we are all beautiful, it's quite an upbeat feel good song, definitely worth a buy, even if you don't buy the whole album.

I do recommend that you buy this album, I think it shows how much Sandi has grown since her debut, it's just a shame this album seems to be going unnoticed, it's expected to chart at #21 this Sunday, very disappointing compare to her debut. If you like pop/rock artists like Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne etc, this should be quite a good listen for you, it's just like them but with a folk twist.

I give this album 4/5, make sure you buy it now! It was released Monday (UK)

iTunes Single Battle: Who Should You Buy?

Today 3 major songs have been released to the US iTunes:

Bossy is Lindsay's 1st single from her 3rd album. It is a very nice R&B dance track, produced by Stargate, known hit makers. The only problem I have with this song is that it seems like Lindsay told Stargate she wanted a track good enough for Rihanna. But this isn't up to the standard of 'Don't Stop The Music' which I think is what Lindsay was aiming for. It is a good song, and Lindsays voice suits it, it almost sounds like she's teasing the listener. I do wonder whether she was just given a Rihanna cast-off because no one else wanted it. But I do quite like it. It's certainly one of my favourite tracks at the moment.

'When I Grow Up' is the Pussycat Dolls eagerly anticipated new single, it is one of my favourite songs at the moment, I love it! People seem to be annoyed that on the Promo CD it says all lead and background vocals by Nicole Scherzinger, but does that really affect what the song sounds like, it would be nice to hear some of the other dolls, but they've stuck with what the general public know, which is a good marketing move. The third verse is amazing, it is my favourite part of the song. The whole song is so slick and well produced, it should be a hit.

'Energy' is Keri's debut single. You might have heard of Keri through her collaborations with Timbaland/Danja, she wrote 'Gimme More'. I do quite like this song, but I feel like there is something lacking, it isn't produced by Timbaland which is a good thing, if this was a Timba song it would probably be overlooked as his current sound seems to be getting boring. It's a nice little mid-tempo track produced by 'The Runaways', lyrically the song seems quite meaningful, singing about how a relationship has taken all of her energy. I don't know what I was expecting but with I title like 'Energy' I was expecting quite an upbeat song, I've been very pleasantly surprised by it!

If you want to but the songs I recommend you buy them in this order:
1. When I Grow Up
2. Bossy
3. Energy
But they are all worth the money!!
What do you think of these new singles/which did you buy?

Keri Hilson Album/Single News

Keri Hilson's debut album will be released on September 23rd, titled 'In A Perfect World'. The first single, produced by The Dream, "Energy" was released to the US iTunes today. On first listen I quite like it, I'm glad Keri didn't go for a typical Timbaland produced track.

Review: Alanis Morissette - Flavors of Entanglement

Flavors of Entanglement is Alanis Morissette's 7th studio album, her first since 2004. I'll start off by saying I have never listened to an Alanis album before, I think I've listened to about 1 song from her a couple of times. She's just slipped under my radar. But this new album grabbed my attention, I don't know why I just thought I wasn't going to lose any time listening to it, so I might as well. I am very very glad I did.

Vocally, Alanis is very good, there is something about her voice that makes you want to listen, true she's no Leona Lewis or Mariah Carey but I think it's a good thing, her voice draws you in rather than just going for the 'Wow' factor. The lyrics are also similar, they match with her voice and again the way the songs are written draw you in.

A fair few listens in and I can say that I really like this album, it's a mix of genres pop/rock mainly but you can tell there are other influences yet most of the album is very soft and easy to listen to. 'Not As We' stood out for me on my first listen it is amazing, one of the best tracks on the album. Another stand out track is 'Straitjacket' which sounds like it's got R&B influences, that mixed with Alanis' voice is not a bad thing! The other thing I like about this album is the emotion you can hear in Alanis' voice, it's immense.

I give this album 4/5. It is definately worth the buy! Make sure you pick it up June 2nd (UK) and June 10th (US).

"Disturbia which is a record I'm very excited about and that's gonna be the next single..Disturbia is one of my favorite songs I've ever recorded. The whole feeling of the song is kinda weird and dreamy but the beat..and it has a chant to it.."

David Archuleta Album News!

In a recent interview with People magazine David discussed Idol, his Father and what he planned to do next, here are some of the best Q&A's:

Now that Idol is over, what is your plan?
I would like to keep trying to do school while I work on music. That’s kind of what I’ve been doing on this show. Everyday I still have to do school. Even after this interview I have to go to school! School is really important and it was my main priority before this because I didn’t know if I would be able to get anywhere with music. Even if music does turn out to go somewhere for me, you never know how long it would last. I want to make sure I have something to back me up on that.

What careers are you interested in?
I change my mind here and there. Lately, what I find most interesting is the ear, nose, throat doctor thing, which I know would take a lot of work and education but it’s something that interests me. It is something that helps people who have had the same problems as me — like the whole hearing and nose congestion and problems with your voice. To be able to help people with that, it’s something I can really relate to people with because I’ve had so many problems with that stuff.

What kind of album do you hope to make?
I like the pop music but I still want to have meaning in my music, so I would like to do some fun stuff along with music that has more meaning in it. John Mayer and Sara Bareilles are examples I use for people that have done the more pop side of the music, but their music has more meaning and depth to it. They are respected as real musicians and artists.

I really like David, so I hope he breaks into the music industry, it's such a waste of talent if he becomes a Doctor! I think that sort of genre will be interesting for David, I'd have hated for him to just do an album full of ballads.

Britney Set For Comeback Shows?

Source/Picture: The Sun

BRITNEY SPEARS has certainly come a long way since her dramatic breakdown in January.

Back then she was looking bloated, spotty and a million miles away from the fresh faced young teen who made it big with Hit Me Baby One More Time.

But, she's now back to looking great, as you can see in this picture of her imitating the front cover Vanity Fair, featuring Pretty Woman star JULIA ROBERTS.

Clutching a rose with her teeth, Britney holds up the magazine with a huge smile on her face.

The picture has been released at the same time as reports suggesting that the star is due to make a spectacular comeback worth a whopping £5MILLION.

According to a source who spoke to our sister paper The News Of The World, the singer is poised to perform at a mega-bucks one-off Las Vegas show, followed by a string of dates.

The source confirmed: "The concert will be one to top them all - a spectacle.

"It will have jaw-dropping lights, amazing costumes and a performance from Britney to roll back the years."

Britney last had a No1 single in the UK in 2004.

She will play the gig at Palms Hotel And Casino in Las Vegas at the end of the year.

Her record company, Sony BMG, have given the thumbs-up despite Britney's shambolic show at the MTV Video Music Awards last year.

The source added: "There's a total of £5million on offer but the onus is on Brit to put in a top show.

"Britney is finally getting her life, and career, back on track and the whole world will see the evidence when she steps on that stage."

This is The Sun, so it isn't that reliable. But Britney was spotted with the owner of one of the big Las Vegas hotel owners, perhaps they were discussing plans for the tour.

New Song Of The Moment

I'm Back (Just About)

I've now decided to try and make a full return to blogging! For those of you that remember (or know me) it was around this time last year that I left my original blog because I was too busy with exams and other school stuff. I came back breifly on this blog breifly at the start of this year but again I had even more exams and coursework, so I left it only to make the odd post now and then.

But school has finished for me now, so I should have more time to update. However I do have a couple of weeks of exams left (although none this week!) So some days I'll update more than others. I will try and post daily but it won't always be possibly, especially once I have my Summer job. I do really want to keep this blog going!
